Your Club leadership has decided to hold an in-person meeting. If you decide to attend the meeting in person, you will be responsible for complying with all procedures and protocols implemented by the meeting venue with regard to mitigating the risks of becoming infected with the COVID-19 virus. In addition, since NAHB had no say in the decision to hold an in-person meeting, you will be required to waive any claims against NAHB in the event you become infected with the COVID-19 virus as a result of your attendance at the meeting (see “Assumption of Risk” and “Waiver of Liability” below).
WARNING: The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, has been declared a worldwide pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID-19 is reported to be extremely contagious. The state of medical knowledge is evolving, but the virus is believed to spread through person-to-person contact and/or by contact with contaminated surfaces and objects, and even possibly through the air. The exact methods of contraction and spread are not fully known, and there is no reliably effective treatment, cure, or vaccine for COVID-19. Evidence has shown that COVID-19 can cause serious and potentially life-threatening illness and even death.
NAHB cannot prevent you from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while attending the in-person 20 Club meeting. It is not possible to prevent against the presence of the disease. If you choose to attend the 20 Club meeting in person, you may expose yourself to, and/or increase, the risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19.
ASSUMPTION OF RISK: I have read and understand the above warning concerning COVID-19. I hereby choose to accept the risk of contracting and/or spreading COVID-19 for myself and others in order to attend the 20 Club meeting in person, which is of significant importance and value to me, rather than arranging for a method of attending the meeting virtually, such as videoconferencing.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY: I hereby forever release and waive my right to bring suit against NAHB or its members, directors, officers, managers, employees, agents, and other representatives (hereafter the “Releasees”) in connection with exposure, infection, and/or spread of COVID-19 related to in-person attendance at the 20 Club meeting. I understand that this waiver means I give up my right to bring any claims against the Releasees, including for personal injuries, death, disease or property damage or loss, or any other loss, including but not limited claims of negligence, and give up any claim I may have against the Releasees to seek damages, whether known or unknown or foreseen or unforeseen.
