The National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) Leading Suppliers Council, in collaboration with Professional Builder and Professional Remodeler magazines, today unveiled the latest official show homes of the NAHB International Builders’ Show (IBS): The New American Home® 2020 and The New American Remodel® 2020.
The New American Home® 2020 exhibits an array of innovative design concepts and trends. Located in Henderson, Nev., within the luxury-home community of Ascaya, the four-bedroom five-bath single-story home features two showroom garages, a wide variety of fully integrated smart-home technology and a well-appointed indoor/outdoor entrainment area. Throughout the home, the design-build team from Sun West Custom Homes utilized some of the industry’s most advanced building products and techniques to optimize energy-efficiency. The home is expected to achieve Emerald-level status, the highest efficiency rating of the National Green Building Standard (NGBS).
The New American Remodel® 2020 was originally a single-level, three-bedroom four-bath home built in 1977. The home was completely transformed into a two-story, five-bath four-bedroom modern-day residence. The build team of Element Building Company and Architecture by Phil Kean centered the home around sustainability while showcasing innovation, exceptional design and energy-efficiency. Notable features include a showroom three-car garage, five radiant fireplaces and a rooftop terrace with a view of the Las Vegas Strip. The home is also designed to achieve NGBS Emerald status.
“I’m extremely excited about The New American Home 2020 because it’s something totally different from what has been done in previous show homes,” said Dan Coletti, president of Sun West Custom Homes. “Among several key characteristics, the radius walls we used help create a unique 3-D design element. People are definitely going to be wowed by so many different and cool features that many of them have never seen before in any other home.”
In addition to achieving NGBS Emerald status, both homes anticipate receiving certifications from multiple Department of Energy programs, including: Energy Star, Zero Energy Ready Home, Builders Challenge and Building America.
Achieving such high-performance ratings was made possible by incorporating state-of-the-art green/sustainable building products. The homes feature spray-foam insulation, high-quality solar panels, automated LED lighting and a full array of energy-efficient appliances.
“I could not be prouder of our design and build teams for their hard work and innovative ideas which were brought to life within this home,” said Josh Anderson, owner of Element Building Company. “We based much of our designs on natural and sustainable elements, which is why you’ll see numerous incorporations of various stones, woods and recycled tiles. The smaller footprint of the home allowed us to showcase a variety of new techniques to optimize space, and it’s really exciting to see so many features all come together. This home is truly something special and I’m thrilled to be able to put on display one of the most sustainable and energy-efficient New American Remodels ever produced.”
Registered attendees of IBS 2020 may tour the homes daily during the show, Jan. 21-23. Complimentary shuttle buses will be available and depart every half hour from the Las Vegas Convention Center beginning at 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Shuttle bus tickets will be distributed each day on a first-come, first-served basis from the TNAH/TNAR booth located in Booths C10 and C11. The booth opens at 7:15 a.m. and those interested in obtaining tickets for that day are advised to arrive as early as possible.
