TrueNorth has worked with more than 200 builders in 5 countries and their Lean Process implementations have been credited with identifying more than $300 million in savings for clients -- while actually improving the product and building stronger relationships with suppliers & trade contractors. Scott is a frequent speaker at industry and builder events. His columns on current homebuilding topics and issues have been a mainstay of the industry for two decades. In 2015, Scott was a recipient of the Jesse Neal Award for Writing Excellence, considered the Pulitzer Prize of the business press. Scott is a long-time volunteer and former Board Member of the Appalachian Service Project which works with more than 10,000 volunteers each summer to renovate more than 650 homes in central Appalachia, home of many of the poorest counties in America. Scott is currently a Board Member and volunteer pilot with Wings of Mercy, flying patients-in-need to medical procedures throughout the midwest. Scott and his family reside in a converted barn built in the 1820's by a War of 1812 veteran and signer of the Michigan State Constitution. He regrets to report that all calls to the builder for warranty service have gone unanswered.
