Michael Neal is an Assistant Vice President for Forecasting and Analysis at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). In this role he leads the production of NAHB’s suite of economic forecasts covering the outlook for the national housing market and economy as well as housing production across state and local markets.
Michael serves as a member of the Blue Chip Panel of Economic Forecasters as well as the Consensus Panel of Economic Forecasts. He also contributes his views of the economy and the housing market to the Wall Street Journal’s Survey of Forecasters. Michael’s research area covers topics in the macroeconomy as well as residential construction. As a housing and macro-economist, Mr. Neal provides expert analysis and commentary to media outlets and industry groups around the country.
Prior to joining NAHB, Michael worked at the Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress, the Federal Reserve, the Congressional Budget Office, and Goldman Sachs. Michael holds a Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and Bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College. He has also studied at Oxford University and at Princeton University.
