Matt Belcher is an experienced and nationally-recognized builder, author, trainer and consultant on the business of high performance buildings and development. He has been actively involved in the construction industry for over three decades, including six years as a top building codes official in the St. Louis region. He was just named 2018 NAHB-BSC Builder of the Year.
With a career specializing in cost effective building/retrofitting sustainable energy efficient homes, light commercial construction and development. He is committed to the “whole building” design approach using a portfolio of energy resources.
Mr. Belcher is also Director of the High Performance Buildings Research Center, part of the Midwest Energy Efficiency Research Consortium at the University of Missouri-Columbia
Mr. Belcher resides as a life member on the Board of Directors of NAHB; Past Chairman of NAHB’s Green Building & Energy sub-committee also serving on NAHB’s Building Codes and Standards sub-committees.
He also serves on the technology committee with the Brussels, Belgium based Active House Alliance.
He has served on ICC code development committees including the Energy & Water committee, Residential Energy Code and Building Code Committees.
Mr. Belcher has testified in front of the U.S. House Energy and Air Quality Subcommittee and the U.S. House High Performance Buildings Caucus on the economic advantages of high performance buildings. in 2015, Mr. Belcher was invited to the White House to discuss the business impacts of the Clean Power Rule with White House Staff.
Mr. Belcher serves on the Advisory Board for Operation Finally Home; an organization providing mortgage free homes to injured/disabled/Ill Veterans
