JEFFREY AUGELLO serves as Senior Counsel with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB’s) Office of Legal Affairs. His work revolves around environmental and administrative law, with emphasis on the Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act and other federal regulatory programs impacting land use transactions. He also assists clients with compliance and litigation related to the Fair Housing Act and Americans with Disabilities Act.
Prior to joining NAHB, Mr. Augello served as a land acquisition attorney with Lennar Corporation where he was responsible for identifying land suitable for development, drafting and negotiating purchase agreements and analyzing title abstracts.
Mr. Augello has also held the position of Attorney Advisor with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Enforcement and Litigation. His responsibilities included enforcement of the statutory and regulatory prohibitions governing the management and protection of the U.S. system of National Marine Sanctuaries.
As a law clerk with the U.S. Department of Justice's Environmental Enforcement Section, Mr. Augello handled natural resource damage and cost recovery claims associated with high profile superfund sites throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Mr. Augello is admitted to the bars of the District of Columbia, Vermont and United States Supreme Court. He received his J.D. and LLM in environmental law from Vermont Law School. He also holds a B.S. in environmental sciences and economics from the University of Vermont.
