Ben Hoen is a Staff Research Associate in the Electricity Markets and Policy Group at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
Ben conducts research and analysis on renewable energy, including: renewable energy policy analysis and assistance; cost, benefit and market analysis; and, public acceptance and deployment barriers. Ben’s research on public acceptance of renewable energy has been published in the Journal of Real Estate Research, Contemporary Economic Policy, and Energy Economics. Ben is currently leading an effort to prepare a roadmap for how solar system characteristics might be auto-populated into multiple listing services. Ben has Bachelor’s degrees in Finance and General Business from University of Maryland and a Master of Science degree in Environmental Policy from Bard College. Ben has spoken on over 50 occasions to audiences as diverse as the National Association of Home Builders, Appraisal Institute members, WindPower conference attendees, German Ministry officials, Rooftop Solar Challenge participants and guests, US, State and local government officials, and college students. He is regularly called on to offer technical assistance to a wide variety of stakeholders.
