The NAHB Student Chapters Residential Construction Management Competition (RCMC) is a highlight of the annual NAHB International Builders' Show (IBS). Since 1990, this national competition has given students the opportunity to apply skills learned in the classroom to a real construction company. Students complete a management proposal for a specific project, including a site plan, product design, estimate, schedule, marketing and risk analysis, cash-flow forecast and other essential elements.A panel of judges review and grade the final written proposals in the fall. At IBS, each team presents and defendsits proposal to the judges in front of an audience.

There is an affiliation application process. Once approved, the benefits of membership begin. The membership fee for four-year and two-year programs is $25 per student.
