Home of Distinction: Modular Home Design Under 2,000 Square Feet
Located in the Brewery District of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this project was built by Vaughan Buckley Custom Homes – an authorized, independent Ritz-Craft home builder. Vaughan Buckley has become known for overcoming huge hurdles by building in very challenging and tight urban environments with modular building systems.
This particular project consists of two attached, three-story homes. Each home is made up of multiple modules and set in a narrow infill lot. The modules are stacked on top of one another to create efficient and contemporary spaces.
Upon entering the lower most level of this home, owners are greeted by a dramatic central staircase entry, into an integral garage and a ground floor home office with sliding glass doors opening up onto a fenced-in, urban outdoor retreat.
The stairs lead to a second story that features a large living area and a contemporary kitchen space. As in the first level, the rear of the dwelling has sliding glass doors that open up to a small outdoor living space.
The third story consists of two bedrooms and a spectacular master bathroom, which features custom finishes and fixtures, specifically selected by the home owners.
The roof of this urban retreat has been fitted with an outdoor living space. This roof-top deck has space for a bar and entertainment area, with spectacular views of the Philadelphia skyline.
In addition to the main living areas of this home, the owners have transformed the basement area into a functional game room and lounge.
