NAHB Associates Committee Honors Dedicated Members

January 20, 2016

Three longtime members of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) were honored this morning for their professionalism, political engagement, volunteer activities and service to the industry.

Presented by the NAHB Associates Members Committee, the Builders Engaging Associate Members (BEAM) award went to Doreen “Dodie” Adams of Integrity Builders in Mandeville, La. The BEAM award is given to a Builder member who values doing business with Associates: trade partners, suppliers and service providers who are also members of the NAHB federation. Approximately 95 percent of Adams’ subcontractors are Associate members, and she promotes their involvement in the local, state, and national levels.

Adams builds homes for charity, raises money for the local political action committee (PAC), and was described by one of her subcontractors as “an outstanding person and builder.” Adams has chaired several events and served with distinction on multiple local, state and national committees. For example, Adams chaired a state PAC event and raised close to $14,000.

The Associates Committee also honored Jerry Cowan of Builders Mutual Insurance Co. in Greensboro, N.C., as the Bill Polley Advocate of NAHB’s national political action committee, BUILD-PAC. This award is given to an Associate member who advocates for BUILD-PAC on the local, state and national levels. Winners are recognized for their energy, enthusiasm and ability to recruit contributors to help build up the PAC’s resources.

Cowan is a longtime PAC donor and was the North Carolina Leadership Team Liaison for the 2015 NAHB Associate PAC drive. He is a member of many home building associations in North Carolina and South Carolina, and as a member of NAHB’s Associate Members Committee and Advocacy Subcommittee, he has supported every PAC fundraising effort. Cowan has spoken to over 50 associations in North and South Carolina, sharing the BUILD-PAC message and selling fundraising raffle tickets wherever he goes. NAHB has also recognized him as a top membership recruiter.

Finally, the committee named Tony Bosco of Quality Windows and Doors LLC in Freeland, Mich., as NAHB’s Associate of the Year. This award recognizes Associate members who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to the home building industry on the local, state and national level.

Bosco, member of the Home Builders Association of Saginaw, has chaired over 15 committees and served as a national director for over 8 years. He is a long-time BUILD-PAC member, and an NAHB Life Spike, recognized for his recruitment efforts. Bosco has earned the Bill Polley Advocate of BUILD-PAC award and the Michigan Associate of the Year award. He has also dedicated his time and energy to numerous community service efforts.

“I’m proud to see Dodie, Jerry and Tony enjoy this well-deserved national recognition,” said NAHB Associates Committee Chair Michael LeCorgne, CGA, CAPS, a 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty account executive from Mandeville, La. “They’ve accomplished a great deal by applying their professional skills to some very important efforts, and NAHB is all the stronger for the work they do.”
