The 2018 BSC Jerry Rouleau Awards for Excellence in Marketing and Home Design
Winner: Modular Home Design – Between 2,001 – 3,000 square feet
Manufacturer: Ritz-Craft Custom Homes
Builder: Vaughan Buckley Construction
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Project Name: Wright Street
Square Feet: 2,280
The building site for this project had been passed over by multiple site builders and deemed to be unbuildable due to excessive amounts of rock, its location on a hillside and tight roads making accessibility difficult for construction equipment. However, through the addition of new roads and other infrastructure, Vaughan Buckley Construction was able to take advantage of the space and carve their buildings directly into the hillside with fantastic views of the city. The floor plan itself was designed specifically for these views and incorporates second-floor living, as well as multiple decks and outdoor spaces. A unique aspect of this build is the roof top deck/patio. This area is spacious enough to host a small dinner party or to simply enjoy a view of the city — with a small wet bar located at the top of the stairs, perfect for entertaining.
