The NAHB/Builders Mutual Safety Award for Excellence (SAFE) awards program is the home building industry’s only award recognizing professionals who have made successful efforts to advance safety in the industry.

This year we’ve revamped the application process to make it easier to apply, and you can enter for FREE!

SAFE Award winners will be recognized at the 2019 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, Feb. 19-21, 2019.

The 2018 SAFE Awards is accepting entries from Sept. 24 to Nov. 9, 2018.

Categories

Associate Member Safety Program of the Year

Applicants in this award category consist of firms engaged in business related to the construction or remodeling of single-family homes and townhomes. You must be an NAHB member (or an employee of a member company) to both nominate an individual and be selected to win.

Innovative Safety Program/Idea of the Year

Applicants for this award category consist of an idea, product, service or program that has contributed toward advancing safety in the home building industry. Non-members may nominate an individual and be selected to win.

Multi-family Safety Program of the Year

Applicants in this award category consist of firms engaged in construction of multi-family dwellings, included but not limited to the following: garden apartments; mid-rise apartments; high-rise apartments; condominiums; hotels; and mixed-use communities. You must be an NAHB member (or an employee of a member company) to both nominate an individual and be selected to win.

NAHB Safety Champion of the Year

Applicants in this award category consist of persons who have made a unique and special effort to advance safety in the home building industry. You must be an NAHB member (or an employee of a member company) to both nominate an individual and be selected to win.

NAHB State/Local Association Safety Program of the Year

Applicants in this award category consist of NAHB-affiliated state or local associations that have made unique efforts to advance safety in the home building industry. You must be an NAHB member (or an employee of a member company) to both nominate an individual and be selected to win.

NAHB Student Chapter Safety Program of the Year

Applicants can be student chapters in high schools, career technical schools, community colleges (two-year programs) and universities (four-year programs) in the United States.

Remodeler Safety Program of the Year

Applicants in this award category consist of firms engaged in improving, remodeling and repairing existing homes. You must be an NAHB member (or an employee of a member company) to both nominate an individual and be selected to win.

Siding Contractor Safety Program of the Year

The Siding Contractor Safety Program of the Year recognizes siding installers of fiber cement, vinyl, wood, aluminum or other exterior finish material (except brick, stone, stucco or curtain wall) on residential buildings who consistently demonstrate best in class key safety opportunities. Beyond being compliant to OSHA standards across all measures, the contractor exhibits:
– Ongoing employee engagement and commitment
– Continuous safety training and development
– A prioritization on overall job site safety Non-members may nominate an individual and be selected to win. 

Single-family Safety Program of the Year

Applicants in this award category consist of general contractors engaged in construction of new single-family homes and townhomes, within the following size categories:
– Less than 10 home starts per year
– 11 to 100 home starts per year
– Greater than 100 homes but less than 500 homes
– Greater than 500 homes

You must be an NAHB member (or an employee of a member company) to both nominate an individual and be selected to win.

Specialty Trade Contractor Safety Program of the Year

Applicants in this award category consist of specialty trade contractors engaged in home construction work, including but not limited to the following: carpenters, roofers, plumbers, heating/ventilation/air conditioning, electricians, painters, masons, stucco, drywallers, excavators, flooring, siders, and foundation and concrete work.
– Less than 50 employees
– Greater than 50 employees

Non-members may nominate an individual and be selected to win.
