The NAHB Legal Action Fund helps defray litigation costs for builders, developers and HBAs involved in legal actions of national significance to builders or that have the potential for meaningful precedent-setting impact on housing industry issues.

The Legal Action Fund is an industry service administered by the NAHB Legal Action Committee to encourage members and HBAs to file high-quality litigation that addresses major industry issues. Many regulatory challenges faced by builders and developers are resolved in the courts rather than in legislative chambers.

Read about the cases that received grants at IBS 2023.

Funding assistance can range from $5,000 to $50,000 and can be used to offset legal costs, including the drafting and submission of “friend of the court” briefs.

In addition to monetary assistance, parties that receive Legal Action Fund grants often get legal guidance from NAHB legal staff or from friendly attorneys and experts well-versed in this type of litigation.

If your company or HBA is currently involved in litigation that would have a broad impact, or is in advanced consideration of filing a case, apply for a grant. Applications are considered at national meetings.

The next deadline for Legal Action Fund grants is May 9, 2023, for consideration at the Spring Leadership Meeting in Washington, D.C.

If you are considering litigation, want to submit an application, or you have questions about the fund, please contact Lavon Roxbury at 202-266-8359.
