While attendees at last month’s International Builders’ Show were touring The New American Home® 2023 in Las Vegas, the finishing touches were being added to The New American Remodel® 2023 — in Orlando. Now complete, the remodeled home will make its official debut to the public during a live webinar on Wednesday, March 8, at 3 p.m. ET.

The original home was built in the 1990s for a special “Street of Dreams” housing showcase in Winter Park, Fla. Although the home was well maintained through the years, its owners felt the layout was disjointed, cramped and overall, outdated.

“When they initially came to us about remodeling their home, they said it had many great features, but its overall character did not fit their personality and lifestyle,” said Phil Kean, owner of Phil Kean Design Group. “They wanted to eliminate the multiple levels and create a more transitional throughout.”

After a comprehensive renovation, the once-dated home has transformed into a contemporary, high-performance showcase using the latest in building products and techniques. The home is now nearly 50% more efficient than today’s average code-built house.

The 45-minute webinar on March 8 will feature Kean and Drew Smith of Two Trails, a leading sustainable building consulting firm, who will provide a walking tour of the home and share details about innovative features, creative solutions and key takeaways regarding the home’s design and efficiency.

Some of the specific topics Kean and Smith will discuss include:

  • Reworking complicated existing floor plans
  • Retrofitting homes using a house-as-a-system concept
  • Selecting efficient products and systems for a modern-day remodel
