Learn How to Save a Life on the IBS 2023 Show Floor
The International Builders’ Show (IBS) is great place to learn about new products and services. With education courses and presentations, attendees can also learn new skills or techniques. There’s also a chance you can learn to save a life right on the show floor.
NAHB has been looking to grow awareness of and provide resources to combat a surge in opioid overdoses in the construction industry. One of our partners in the effort, SAFE Project, will be conducting free demonstrations at the 2023 IBS on the proper use of Narcan to reverse opioid overdoses.
Narcan, or Naloxone, is a nasal spray used for the treatment of a known or suspected opioid overdose emergency. SAFE Project has been offering Naloxone toolkits to home builders through its partnership with NAHB. Demonstrations will be held at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. every day in the Jobsite Safety Zone in the Central Hall at IBS.
The SAFE Project team also will be providing resources and advice at booth C27 to help workers, supervisors, and business owners address the addiction crisis plaguing our country.
In addition to those presentations, exhibitors and partners will be running demos and learning sessions nearly around the clock in the Safety Zone.
NAHB legal partner Littler will be conducting presentations on OSHA inspections, including what builders should expect during an inspection and how to build a culture of safety compliance in your business. This is particularly important now that OSHA fines have increased.
There also will be multiple presentations and demos exploring the latest products and techniques to protect workers from falls, the most common cause of injuries on residential building sites. Attendees can also see the latest trends in safety equipment and ad-hoc demonstrations from all exhibitors in the Safety Zone.
The Jobsite Safety Zone is located in booths C8632 - C8330 near the back of Central Hall. Look for the large yellow and black banner on the ceiling to guide you to the zone.
