Promote Homeownership Month in June with NAHB Resources
Homeownership enriches lives and strengthens communities. To highlight the central role home plays in our lives, NAHB and its members celebrate National Homeownership Month throughout June.
For many, the pandemic underscored the need for more residential space. According to an NAHB analysis, since the Great Recession lows (and on a one-year moving average basis), the average size of new single-family homes is now 6.3% higher at 2,537 square feet, while the median size is 10% higher at 2,318 square feet.
Ample space is one of the many benefits of homeownership that industry members can share with their community this month. NAHB's Homeownership Month Toolkit provides customizable resources to support HBA and member outreach efforts. Toolkit highlights include:
- Social media images and sample social media posts
- Talking points and a template press release
- Articles on topics of interest to current and potential home owners
More than 10,000 NAHB members recently signed a letter urging the Biden Administration to address the current housing affordability challenge, a barrier to homeownership. NAHB will continue to work with the administration to find solutions that will enable builders to construct more affordable entry-level housing and raise first-time, first-generation, and minority homeownership rates.
