IBSx Remodeled Show Home Boasts Strong Connection to the Outdoors
As one of the official exhibit homes of the 2021 International Builders’ Show® virtual experience (IBSx), The New American Remodel® 2021 demonstrates the significant impact of today’s advanced construction techniques and innovative building products. The project transformed a dated, energy-devouring, 1973-built home into a modern showcase of contemporary living and ultra-energy efficiency.
“My passion is really in sustainable building. So when I’m given the opportunity to transform a home like [this], I really enjoy focusing on the energy and environmental aspects of the project,” said Rob Smith, owner of E2 Homes and lead builder of the 2021 remodel. “The house turned out even better than I imagined.”
The original version of the lakefront property had much lower ceilings and smaller windows, which limited the views of the lake and the amount of natural light inside the home. From the very beginning of the renovation, Smith’s team focused on implementing numerous strategies to create a more open atmosphere, yet still be mindful of sustainability.
The remodeled home now features raised ceilings, larger, energy-efficient windows, and fully retractable Phantom screen doors throughout, all of which help blur the lines between the indoors and outdoors.
“They were able to open up so much of the kitchen area, the dining room and the living room. So now it’s all just one, open, welcoming room,” said Elizabeth Guilfoyle, owner of the home. “There are so many views of the lake, so many places to just sit and relax.”
While the interior of the home optimizes its new, open floor plan, the exterior is equally geared toward maximizing living space. The backyard was completely revamped to feature a redesigned pool with a hot tub, splash pad and shallow beach area for kids. There is also green space in which to play and entertain, as well as a separate cabana that is fully equipped to serve as office space and guest accommodations.
The New American Remodel 2021, as well as its counterpart, The New American Home 2021, will be officially unveiled during IBSx Feb. 9-12. Show attendees will have exclusive access to virtual video presentations, in addition to immersive 3D virtual tours. Get a sneak peek in the following video:
