NAHB's third annual day of social media action, Careers in Construction Day 2020, is on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
On #CICDAY2020, we encourage home builders, remodelers and Associate members to post pictures of themselves doing their normal work to provide students and others considering construction careers a glimpse into their daily lives. So many people simply don't know what home building entails, and this is your chance to show them.
Now, more than ever, highlighting careers in construction is imperative for everyone in the home building industry. Home builders are facing labor shortages at a time when millions of Americans are out of work from business lockdowns associated with the pandemic. Let's show them that career paths in construction are professionally and financially rewarding.
Here are some ideas for effective posts on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and others:
- A video of a trained worker using interesting tools or techniques
- Job site images showing the progress of a project
- A "day in the life" picture or video montage showing a typical day from start to finish
- Pictures of valued suppliers and subcontractors, and any of the other great people that make this industry so rewarding
If you have a spare five minutes on Tuesday, snap a picture of yourself and post it on your favorite social media platform with the tag #CICDAY2020. Other popular tags to consider using include #CareersinConstruction and #skilledtrades.
