Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn (D-S.C.) will be the featured speakers at the NAHB Legislative Conference briefing on Wednesday, June 5 during the 2019 Spring Leadership Meeting. The briefing begins at 7:30 a.m. (doors open for breakfast at 7 a.m.) at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill. Bus transportation to the Hyatt Regency from the Marriott Wardman Park will be available at 6:30 a.m. The Republican and Democratic leaders will share their insights on the legislative agenda for the 116th Congress. In addition, NAHB staff experts will be available to provide updates on the following key legislative issues:
  • Workforce and labor shortage
  • Trade and the United States-Mexico-Canada-Agreement
  • Housing finance reform
  • Low-Income Housing Tax Credit
  • Building energy codes
  • National Flood Insurance Program
  • Cluster mailboxes
Immediately following the briefing, members will depart the hotel to meet with their federal lawmakers to discuss important local and national housing issues and to urge their members of Congress to support policies that will increase housing affordability nationwide. Due to the updated congressional schedule, certain members of Congress may not be available to meet after 1 p.m. on June 5. NAHB members are encouraged to confirm meeting times with House and Senate offices.
