Getting involved with NAHB Remodelers can be a "career-changing experience," according to Alan Archuleta, CAPS, CGA, CGB, CGP, CGR, a remodeler from Morristown, N.J.
Archuleta received a 2018 NAHB Remodelers Leadership Scholarship, a program that helps local remodelers council chairs and vice chairs start engaging at the national level. He was awarded $1,500 to help with expenses to attend the NAHB Midyear Meeting last year in Portland, Ore.
“I dove in head-first and saw firsthand how everything was run nationally,” Archuleta explained. “It was eye-opening for me to see and learn about the countless ways I can get involved and make an impact on the industry."
Scholarship winners not only learn firsthand about the remodeling industry, they also discover tips and ideas for running a successful local council, and network with some of the most talented and accomplished remodelers in the country.
“While attending the meetings, I realized that even some of the most successful remodeling contractors in the nation face the same business challenges that I do," said Archuleta. “I made so many new connections with other remodeling professionals who I'm able to reach out if I need advice. There’s a wealth of knowledge out there and everyone wants to help each other succeed.”
The 2019 NAHB Remodelers Leadership Scholarship will provide $1,500 to offset travel expenses for local chairs or vice chairs of NAHB Remodelers-affiliated councils to attend NAHB’s Spring Board Meetings in Washington, D.C., June 4-8.
The application period for the scholarship is open now through March 25
