4 Standout Associate and Builder Members Recognized at IBS

NAHB presented awards to four standout Associate and Builder members during the Associates of Excellence Awards luncheon at the International Builders’ Show. The awards recognize members for contributing to the strength of NAHB and the housing industry through leadership and professional excellence in a variety of areas. Winners were selected from four categories: The Associate of the Year Award: Mike Farr of Cascade Manufacturing in Swisher, Iowa A longtime Gold Key member, Farr has been an NAHB member for 25 years, during which time he has dedicated himself to volunteering at all levels of the Federation, including leadership and community service.   The BEAM (Builders Engaging Associate Members) Award: Mike Fournier of Sonrise Construction in Broken Arrow, Okla. This year’s winner not only believes in the motto, "It’s good business to do business with a member;" he lives it every day. Fournier has recruited 76 new members to NAHB in the past five years, has earned a number of NAHB designations, and has taken leadership roles at both the state and local level. The Bill Polley BUILD-PAC Award: Mike Farr of Cascade Manufacturing in Swisher, Iowa Farr actively and enthusiastically spreads the BUILD-PAC message and engages interested individuals throughout his state. Fundraising also is a top priority. Don’t let him catch you with your phone on at a meeting; if it rings, he’ll make sure you pay BUILD-PAC $20. The One to Watch Award: Christopher Cowan of CohnReznick, LLP, in Eatontown, N.J. An active HBA member for more than 12 years, Cowan is a natural leader who has led multiple initiatives at his company to improve personnel morale and efficiency, and supported the community around him.   The Associate Members Committee also presented committee Vice Chairman Linda Mosier-Vaudt (Mosier-Vaudt Consulting in Gig Harbor, Wash.) with the Associate Chairman’s Award. The Chairman’s Award is given to an Associate member who has demonstrated teamwork and a willingness to help the Associate Members Committee with its initiatives, whether the recipient was on the national committee or not.
