The 2019 International Builders' Show
is just days away, and a flagship exhibit—The New American Home—is ready for its big debut.
"Our goal from the very beginning was to create an exceptionally high-performance home that showcased the best of contemporary architecture, and I could not be happier with the finished product," said Daniel Coletti, president of Sunwest Custom Homes
and builder of the 2019 home.
Coletti notes several structural components are revealed throughout the home that add to its modern flair. For example, exposed beams are seen under the single-slope roof, the wet bar is suspended by cables, and the frame of the master bed is mounted to the wall with steel suspension making it seemingly float off the ground.
Show attendees who tour the home are sure to note several more striking characteristics. An expansive fireplace instantly doubles in size to 16 feet wide when the retractable glass doors are opened, connecting the indoor and outdoor fireplaces. Sliding glass doors also retract behind the kitchen cabinets, creating a seamless transition into the outdoor kitchen and living spaces.
"The wall-to-glass ratio is huge, yet the design and products used within the home enable it to be very energy efficient," said Drew Smith, president of Two Trails Inc.
which has worked closely with the build team to ensure optimal performance.
"Western Window [Systems] and Owens Corning both brought their most innovative products to the table," Smith said. "The latest insulation products were used not only in the walls, but in the ceilings, on the roof, and even around the slab. Combining all of those elements enabled us to create as energy-efficient of an envelope as possible."
The show home will be officially unveiled Feb. 19-21. For more information, visit tnah.com
