NAHB and several industry partners welcomed more than 50 members of the 116th Congress to Washington during a Friends of Housing reception last night on Capitol Hill.
After the 2018 midterm elections brought significant changes to the electoral map, NAHB is ready to work with the new Congress to address critical housing issues.
The event provided NAHB First Vice Chair Greg Ugalde, Third Vice Chair Chuck Fowke, CEO Jerry Howard and NAHB's government affairs team the opportunity to educate lawmakers about important housing priorities, including housing affordability, workforce development, lowering the cost of regulation, investing in infrastructure, and refining and expanding tax reform and the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit.
"This was a great way to start the new year and work with members of Congress to keep housing a national priority," said Ugalde. "We reminded lawmakers of the important role that housing plays in building strong communities and keeping the economy moving forward."
Other industry partners at the event included the Mortgage Bankers Association, National Association of Realtors, American Bankers Association, American Land Title Association, Credit Union National Association, National Multifamily Housing Council, National Apartment Association, American Land Title Association and the Leading Builders of America.
