Dan Bawden is President of Legal Eagle Contractors, Co., a 37-year-old design-build remodeling and custom-building firm in Houston, Texas. Dan recently served as the National Chairman of the NAHB Remodelers. He incorporates Universal Design elements in all of his homes. Dan is well-known for creating the nationally accredited “Certified Aging in Place Specialist” or “CAPS” program in 2001 which trains and connects remodelers, designers and medical professionals to connect with boomers, seniors and the physically challenged to make homes safer and more livable as the years go by. Dan is an internationally recognized expert in Universal Design. He recently returned from a speaking tour in Japan, presenting universal design ideas for their growing senior population. He teaches a number of courses across the country for NAHB and is a top-rated NAHB Instructor. He helped write the popular 2-day “NAHB Universal Design-Build” course, which contains many photos of his universal design projects. He has been voted “Texas Remodeler of the Year” four times and “Houston Remodeler of the Year twice”! In his spare time, Dan sings and dances in musical theatre productions, is a trumpet player, scuba diver, practicing attorney, golfer, writer, traveler, and architectural photographer.
