More about Chuck Shinn
Chuck started his home building industry career in 1968 as the Assistant Director of Economics for the NAHB. As the director of the Business Management Department, he conducted the first Cost of Doing Business study, and participated in writing The Accounting System for All Builders. In 1975 Chuck left NAHB to become the Director of the Real Estate and Construction Management program at the University of Denver. In 1976, Chuck became an active builder/remodeler. He was honored as the Builder of the Year in 1985, and as Colorado Industry Man of the Year in 1987. In 1985 he served as President of the Metro Denver HBA. He has also served as Director, National Representative, National Vice President, and member of numerous committees for NAHB. As President of The Shinn Group, Chuck has devoted his time improving the management skills of home builders and increasing their profits through regional and national seminars and consulting services. He also facilitates a number of builder groups set up in pursuit of management excellence. In 2005 Chuck started Builder Partnerships, an organization set up to develop strong relationships between builders, manufacturers and service providers. Builder Partnerships administers a rebate program as well as provides educational and networking venues and opportunities for all its members. Chuck has a B.A. in Economics from the Ohio Wesleyan University, an M.B.A. and a Ph.D. from the College of Business Administration at the American University in Washington, DC.
