Charles Cottrell More about Charles Cottrell Mr. Cottrell is the Vice President of Technical Services for the North American Insulation Manufacturers Association, the association that represents the fiber glass, rock and slag wool manufacturers. Its role is to promote energy efficiency and environmental preservation through the use of fiber glass, rock wool and slag wool insulation as well as encourage safe production and use of these materials. Charles’ primary responsibility is to represent the insulation industry’s interests in the energy, building and mechanical codes and standards arena. Prior to joining NAIMA in 1998, Mr. Cottrell worked for the National Association of Home Builders in their building codes division and a mechanical contracting firm where he designed and oversaw the installation of commercial HVAC systems. He has owned a construction company whose primary business was residential construction and commercial building maintenance. After graduating from Virginia Tech where he received his B.S. in mechanical engineering, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a helicopter pilot for eight years.
