More about Allen Harris
Allen Harris was born and raised in Anniston, Alabama. A graduate of Anniston High School in 1965 and the School of Building Science at Auburn University in 1970, Allen was first employed post college by BKW, Inc., a general contracting firm in Auburn. Over nine years, Allen advanced from Assistant Superintendent to Project Executive, also serving as Deputy Sheriff for two years in Morgan County.
In 1979 Allen and Jack Bailey formed Bailey-Harris Construction Company at a time when interest rates hovered 19%. Allen purchased the company from Mr. Bailey in 1991 and remained President until January 2018, when his son, Russell, became President, maintaining the company’s succession plan. Allen now serves as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Executive Board. Bailey-Harris is a leading industrial and commercial contracting firm servicing the southeastern United States, currently representing its client base in over $200 million of construction programs.
In 2015, Allen formed Chapman H LLC to develop The Springs of Mill Lakes, a thoughtfully master-planned community for 55+ active adults in East Alabama. The vision-come-true for Allen, a Developer with a passion for baby boomers, the community encompasses a 125-acre natural setting of 134 single-family custom homes, a 45-acre perpetually protected wildlife sanctuary owned by the HOA, and The Lodge at Mill Lakes, a premier senior community with wellness and support services.
Allen continuously serves on multiple Boards and Committees, currently including the Governor-appointed Alabama Workforce Council, Chairman of the Academy of Craft Training, member of the BBVA Compass Board of Directors and the 2018 Chairman of the Associated Builders and Contractors for the State of Alabama.
