The Credential
September 2019
Message from the Chair
Welcome to the September edition of The Credential.
In this month’s edition, we feature three great series on important industry topics. We hope you are enjoying these series and look forward to future topics.
AJ Johnson continues his series on Tenant Selection Plans, a topic that used to only exist in the Section 8 and Public Housing segments. This month’s article focuses on the key elements of the Tenant Selection Plan as they relate to the LIHTC communities.
Scott Michael Dunn brings us back to the basics of the LIHTC program with a look at student households. Student rules may seem pretty straightforward, but the consequences of making a mistake are as high as it gets for tenant eligibility. This article details key points you need to stay on top of this critical topic.
The third and newest series to join The Credential is from Amanda Gross. Her series explores the issue of Utility Allowances. This is something we often take for granted on stabilized properties, but you have to review Utility Allowances on an annual basis. If you are on top of your game, you may be able to find real opportunity to improve property revenue by finding more accurate allowances.
On Oct. 10, we will host the webinar, "Fair Housing: Addressing the Issues Facing LIHTC Properties." We look forward to exploring this important topic with you.
I hope you enjoy this issue of The Credential. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you need more information or have a specific question.
Best Wishes,
