How to Earn Your GMR

The Graduate Master Remodeler (GMR) designation allows a Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR) to attain further recognition for his or her commitment to educational excellence and longevity in the remodeling industry. The GMR is designed to be the master level of the CGR designation.

Curriculum and Other Requirements

  • Complete and submit the online GMR graduation application or print version
  • Hold an active CGR designation for five years, hold an active CR (Certified Remodeler) certification from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) for 10 years or hold an active CR (Certified Restorer) certification from the Restoration Industry Association (RIA) for 10 years
  • Have 15 years of remodeling industry experience
  • Successfully complete five required GMR courses
  • Sign the GMR Code of Ethics or agree to the terms electronically

Course Fees

Local course fees are determined by the HBA or other educational license holder that holds the classes.

National Fees for one-day courses:

  • $279 member
  • $419 non-member

National Fees for two-day courses:

  • $469 member
  • $679 non-member

Graduation and Renewal Fees

Premium Option: Kit Available Online/Print (Includes a customized GMR plaque, lapel pin, ribbon and "Choose Wisely" consumer brochures).

  • $145 member
  • $218 non-member

Standard Option: Kit Available Online Only (Includes downloadable designation certificate).

  • $75 member
  • $110 non-member

Annual Renewal Fee:

  • $55 for NAHB member
  • $83 for non-member

Continuing Education Requirements

Designees must earn 12 hours every three years, but are not required to send in proof of CE earned at time of renewal. If they are chosen for a random audit, NAHB will contact them directly and ask for the proof of CE at that time.
