Wisconsin Business Owner Named NAHB Associate Of The Year

January 23, 2013 - Monica Sommerfeldt Lewis, president and owner of Archer Lion Inc., in Chippewa Falls, Wisc., has been honored as the Associate of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The announcement was made this morning at the NAHB International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas.

A longtime volunteer for the Chippewa Valley Home Building Association, Wisconsin Builders Association and NAHB, Sommerfeldt Lewis was honored for her commitment to the home building industry and to the state, local and national committees on which she has served.

Two other supplier members were also honored in Las Vegas  with their induction into the Society of Honored Associates: Sean Olin of Solar Shade Solutions in Cherry Hill, N.J; and Linda Mosier Vaudt of Lumbermens Probuild in Olympia, Wash.

“Monica represents what is best about the partnerships between builders and remodelers and the product manufacturers and service providers who work in this important industry,” said NAHB senior officer Rick Judson, a home builder in Charlotte, N.C. “Working together, we ensure success – and have a positive impact on the American economy.”

Sommerfeldt Lewis has helped to organize and lead a number of education, fundraising and networking events for the Chippewa Valley HBA including green building, strategic planning, the Remodelers Showcase and a capital campaign. On the state level, she has long been active in advocacy and educational initiatives and in the political action committee for home builders.

She also serves on the NAHB Board of Directors and is active in Associate Committee work, especially in advocacy issues. Sommerfeldt Lewis holds the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist and Certified Graduate Associate educational designation from NAHB.

“I congratulate Monica on this important recognition and thank her for her service to our industry and to our members,” Judson said.
