March 19, 2009 - The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has named Robert L. “Bob” Hellmuth, with Sawmill Road Management Company, Springfield, Ohio, as its 2009 Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) of the Year.  The award is given annually to a professional who has excelled in the management of Low-Income Housing Tax Credit properties and has earned the association’s HCCP educational designation.

NAHB’s Pillars Awards, considered the most prestigious in the industry, honor excellence in multifamily housing development, design, marketing and management, and are looked to as a showcase of professionalism and future trends.

Hellmuth, not only has expertise in the complex management procedures demanded by the rules of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program, but is also a developer of tax credit affordable rental communities. An active member of the industry, Hellmuth also serves on industry committees, including the Ohio Housing Finance Agency’s Compliance Advisory Committee.

“The HCCP of the Year is someone who has measured up to the program’s high standards, and won the respect of his colleagues,” said Sara Newsom, Chair of the HCCP Board of Governors. “It’s a privilege to call attention to someone who excels in his career, and who has earned recognition through his experience and performance.”

In addition to recognizing individual achievement, NAHB recognized Pillars of the Industry winners for excellence and superior leadership in 28 other categories, including 17 apartment and condo categories, and eight marketing categories. Individual firms were honored as Multifamily Development Firm of the Year – the NRP Group – and Property Management Company of the Year – Bozzuto Management Company. And the Best Multifamily Community of the Year – Irvington Terrace, an affordable community – was chosen from the winning entries of the builder award categories.
