Statement By NAHB Chairman Sandy Dunn On Revised Regulations To The Endangered Species Act

December 11, 2008 - NAHB Chairman Sandy Dunn, a home builder from Point Pleasant, W.Va., issued the following statement today in response to the publication in the Federal Register of the federal Department of the Interior’s final revised regulations for Endangered Species Act Section 7 Consultations.

“The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) welcomes the Department of the Interior’s final rule on the Endangered Species Act, which provides a positive, much-needed balance between the protection of endangered plants and animals and our nation’s continued need for affordable housing.

“Streamlining the consultation process, especially for routine development activities on smaller parcels of land where delays often stretch from months into years, will improve conservation efforts for all species.

“NAHB looks forward to working in partnership with the new Administration to continue to conserve species and their habitat, preserve precious private and public resources and provide homes for our growing population.”
