WHAT:

The nation is in the midst of its worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Since the peak of 2005, three million total jobs have been lost. Builder confidence measures are at an all time low and foreclosures continue climbing to record levels. The economic crisis has spread to nearly every small town and city across the country, and families are suffering.

On Dec. 17, NAHB will host a teleconference to discuss the State of the Housing Market and push for Congress to take bold and decisive action to spur a Housing and Economic Recovery.

NAHB CEO Jerry Howard will discuss the Fix Housing First coalition and its recommendations for what elements Congress should include in an economic stimulus package. Phil Hoffman, a small home builder from Louisiana will provide a view from the front lines of the housing market, while Patrick Abercrombie of Lowe’s Cabinet and Lighting Gallery will offer perspective on how his business has been affected by the weak market.

Members of the media will be given the opportunity to ask questions at the conclusion of the call. For additional information on Fix Housing First, please visit www.fixhousingfirst.com.
