55+ Housing: Builders, Buyers and Beyond

Are builders building what mature consumers want? Are consumers aware of the value in the features builders include in the homes they builder for that market?  Those questions are answered in the second segment of the joint research on the 55+ housing market conducted by NAHB and the MetLife Mature Market Institute, 55+ Housing: Builders, Buyers, and Beyond.

The survey, conducted in February 2009, during the housing slowdown, delivers current information about what features consumers want, and where those features are on the average buyer's priority list. This information will help builders be proactive in responding to their market as that segment of the industry returns to health.

The survey probes consumer attitudes toward green building, universal design features, high-tech features such as Internet access, and energy-efficiency -- as well as the ways builders are addressing those issues in the homes they're building.
