About the Business Management & Information Technology Committee

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE (BM&ITC)

Committee Charge:

The Standing Committee on Business Management and Information Technology has jurisdiction over matters relating to improving the business management skills of builder members in order to enhance their competitiveness, profitability and professionalism. In accordance with the objectives of the NAHB strategic plan, the committee shall make policy recommendations on business management issues, develop educational programs, write and publish manuals, conduct business management research and provide consulting assistance to other committees.

  • Education Work Group

Chair: Mike Penn

Reviews, ranks and sponsors educational sessions for IBS & NextBUILD

  • Financial Management Issues (FMI) Work Group

Chair: Emma Shinn

Oversees the Cost of Doing Business Study and provides content for financial management/accounting resources (such as the NAHB Chart of Accounts).

  • Information Technology (IT) Work Group 

Chair: Steve Lewkowitz

Oversees the development of IT resources such as the Technology Solutions Directory and Builder Technology Forums and computer labs at IBS/NextBUILD.

  • Publications Subcommittee

Chair: Ed Nikels, Sr.

Guides the development and publication of Business Management titles (such as Home Builder Contracts & Construction Management Forms, 2nd Edition and Builder Business Guides).
