Institute of Residential Marketing Research Project

The NAHB Institute of Residential MarketingWith the goal of increasing our ability to foresee industry changes and develop sales and marketing strategies before members encounter subsequent professional challenges, IRM has created a Research Initiative.

The Research Initiative will help IRM stimulate the sharing of best practices among colleagues and students, promote the value of the Institute within NAHB, advance the profession of sales and marketing, increase number of builders hiring designees, and will be an ever-increasing benefit to its members. The Research Initiative will help start a process that is driven by our members in support of ultimately building a knowledge community within IRM.

Beginning in January, 2005, the IRM began to solicit research projects; and each year and the results will be shared at various events and with members. The 2005 IRM Research Project was "Builder and Buyer Online Behavior Revealed." See the study's findings here.

The 2006 IRM Research Project was a collaboration with the Custom Electronics Design & Installation Association (CEDIA). S. Robert August, MIRM worked with CEDIA on behalf of IRM to research ways for builders and other industry professionals to work with Residential Electronic Systems Contractors (RESC) in a more profitable way. See the study's findings here.
