The Log Homes Council of the National Association of Home Builders.
The Log Homes Council (LHC) is a national trade association formed by log home manufacturers to develop, adopt and promote quality log building systems and ethical business practices.
Not just any company can join the Log Homes Council and enjoy the benefits that our industry members work so hard to provide. Our members must meet certain standards and expectations--criteria that set us apart. By joining the Log Homes Council, you'll receive numerous benefits, such as advocacy, education, marketing and networking opportunities, that can increase your business potential.
You'll receive more active marketing and promotional support on behalf of the log homes industry than you can get anywhere else.
In addition to a web presence on NAHB's website (www.nahb.org/loghomes) the LHC maintains www.loghomes.org, a successful, consumer-oriented website. Both sites educate visitors about the log home industry and give buyers and members ample opportunities to connect.
The LHC promotes log home construction and ownership through a variety of marketing pieces, such as our short, tri-fold brochure, “Log and Timber Building Systems: A Uniquely American Tradition and the Original 'Green' and Sustainable Way to Build" as well as an expanded, digital version. Visitors must register for the the digital brochure and leads are delivered right to your inbox.
We promote awareness of LHC members among builders through regular coverage in NBN Online, the BSC’s Systems-Built Advantage, and other NAHB and affiliated associations' newsletters.
The LHC continues expands its marketing message through articles and advertisements in leading log-home industry magazines, websites and blogs, which helps establish consumer confidence in LHC member companies.
By participating in several log home trade shows nationwide, the LHC promotes the benefits of log home ownership as well as the Council's core message of providing the highest quality service and products.
Thousands of copies of the Building Systems Councils' Annual Membership Directory are distributed to builders, developers, and consumers, promoting member companies and providing direct sales leads.
You'll received regular, professionally written press releases on a wide array of industry-related topics, which members use to generate local PR activities.
To help set their companies apart and instill consumer confidence, LHC members are given the exclusive opportunity to use the LHC and NAHB logos in their marketing materials.
You'll receive powerful advocacy on policy and technical issues.
As part of the NAHB, the LHC has the strength to help fight and defeat excessive regulations and defend housing initiatives on Capitol Hill, in your state and in the communities where you do business.
The LHC educates consumers, builders and policy makers on the energy efficiency and environmental benefits of log home construction. The Council has previously conducted log wall testing for energy efficiency code compliance through Oak Ridge National Laboratory to develop data of log home thermal mass and thermal conductivity qualities.
The LHC assists in the development of key industry codes and policies. For example, the Council played a significant role in developing the ANSI-approved ICC 400 Standard for theDesign and Construction of Log Structures, which provides a standard for log home construction code recognition across the country.
You'll have unparalleled continuing education and networking opportunities.
In conjunction with other members of the Building Systems Councils, the LHC hosts SHOWCASE, the leading educational conference and trade show for the systems-built industry. This event enables members to network with business and thought leaders, connect with suppliers and learn how to tap into the newest systems-built trends and business opportunities.
Members get an inside look at other log home manufacturing facilities and operations through the LHC's President’s Tour. This high-profile industry event attracts owners, presidents and decision makers in the log home industry and its suppliers.
The Council develpped a certified log home builders training program through the Home Builders Institute, the workforce training arm of NAHB..
You can participate in the LHC's Log Grading Certification Program.
The Log Grading Certification Program establishes the quality of Council members by assuring consumers that all logs from a LHC member company meet or exceed acceptable standards set by the model building code and ICC 400.
You can receive guidance on developing a construction manual.
LHC members must have a current construction manual that addresses key aspects of log construction, including safety and design, settling, roof construction, energy requirements, wind loads, etc. This manual ensures that LHC member companies have a comprehensive construction process in place.
You'll reap the benefits of being affiliated with the LHC's superior Code of Ethics.
The LHC sets high ethical standards and business practices for its members. In the consumer's eyes, these standards truly set LHC members apart from other companies.
The Code of Ethics also provides a vehicle for consumers, builders and other LHC members to air grievances via an established Ethics Committee. This process ensures members are held to the Council's standards and can remove members who do not continue to measure up to those standards.
Log Homes Council members aren’t just in the industry, they are a part of the industry. Join us so we can pool our resources and increase our influence and market share. Give us a call so we can work together to promote and advance the ever-growing business we call Log Homes.
