The CMP designation is special to me. It signifies that I have successfully completed the four IRM courses. As an instructor and critic of each of these courses, I am able to create a state-of-the-art education process as I update my knowledge for each course. Further enhancing my knowledge through pragmatic and academic application of the course material helps me assist others in improving their profit performance.

I got my MIRM designation because I want to know EVERYTHING about our industry and the MIRM program was a great way to add to my education! I took all four courses and wrote my case study in one year. The most valuable part of the experience was writing the case study which helped me pull together the information from all four classes. I highly recommend the MIRM courses because they give a broad understanding of what it takes to create revenue from dirt to dollars. It doesn’t get any better than that!

I took all four courses in 1994 but had not completed my case study when the CMP designation was unveiled in 1997.  Receiving this designation in 1998 made visible my commitment to achieving membership in the Institute of Residential Marketingin 1999.

I initially took the CMP classes on the recommendation of a business associate who also worked in the new homes industry as a marketing director.   Since I have worked for 2 Fortune 500 home builders in the United States I have come to believe that self-education is of the utmost importance in our business.  I believe this because too often I have witnessed individuals (and companies) who have become complacent with their skills (and knowledge) and therefore eventually lost their “edge.”  Since I work in a rather dynamic industry my livelihood is affect by a plethora of environmental factors but having an in-depth understanding of the most recent trends and industry best practices has provided me a considerable competitive advantage which in turn has resulted in vastly increased personal income and career satisfaction.  Taking the four classes that were required to earn the CMP designation also introduced me to other opportunities for continuing education and resources that I could utilize to benefit my company and career.  Upon taking the CMP courses I have continued to expand my knowledge by taking other courses offered through the NAHB and IRM.  During this journey, I also learned about the MIRM designation and I decided to make that designation my next goal.
