All resolutions and recommendations to be considered at the 2015 Spring Board of Directors Meeting should be submitted to NAHB by Thursday, May 7 as required by the NAHB bylaws. This provides directors, local HBAs and association leaders with drafts of proposed resolutions before the meeting to ensure the fullest possible grassroots discussion of policy proposals and encourage greater participation among directors at NAHB board meetings.
Additionally, the Resolutions Committee will be implementing NAHB’s “Sunset Review” process for resolutions/recommendations adopted or reaffirmed in 2011. The committees and councils with primary oversight of these policies should review the NAHB Policy Due to Expire handbook and submit their recommendations by Friday, April 17.
Please note resolutions must be reaffirmed with no changes. Policies that require changes should be submitted as a new resolution by the May 7 deadline.
All resolutions and recommendations must be submitted by a current member of the NAHB Board of Directors by the deadline to the Chairman of the Board and NAHB staff.
The full resolution should be emailed, faxed or mailed to Tom Woods, Chairman of the Board, through Jessica Lynch at NAHB. Jessica’s email address is email@example.com. Her telephone number is 800-368-5242, x8401. Her fax number is 202-266-8097.
Resolutions submitted after the 30-day deadline will still be considered at the upcoming board meeting, but they will require a two-thirds vote (rather than a simple majority vote) for passage by the board.
The full texts and summaries of all resolutions to be considered should be posted on nahb.org shortly after the 30-day deadline. These summaries will briefly describe each resolution and will include the name of the original sponsor, the committees and councils to which the resolution has been referred and the name of the NAHB staff contact for that particular policy.
