Local and National Supporters Build a Systems-Built Home for a Wounded Veteran
No one makes more of a personal commitment to country or community than the members of our military do. Yet all too often our U.S. wounded warriors return to find that "home" is no longer adequate for their needs. Sadly, many don't have the resources or ability to make the changes necessary to accommodate their post-service lives. The building systems community wants to change that, one soldier at a time.
And you can play a part by donating funds, materials, services, time ... whatever it takes to make life easier for a soldier who served to protect our way of life.
PROJECT UPDATE: February 2012
There has been lots of activity already this month! From drywall installation to the application of the board and batten siding on the upper level — check out all the progress we've made in the past few weeks.
In an inspirational account of his life and a plea to the building industry to help the plight of our nation's wounded veterans, J.R. Martinez brought down the house at IBS Live on Feb. 9. The OFH spokesman and Dancing with the Stars champ received a standing ovation and brought attention to the Building Systems Councils Building Systems for Soldiers N.C. home for Staff Sgt. (ret.) Vincent Gizzarelli, as well as the housing crisis for our war-wounded servicemen and women.
