The new NAHB Educator of the Year award honors quality instructors who promote and contribute to the growth of NAHB professional designations. Its purpose is to highlight the value of education and the role instructors play in the overall success of NAHB's designation programs.
To be eligible to receive this award, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Must have taught a minimum of four courses within a two-year period (Sept. 30, 2009–Sept. 30, 2011);

Must have achieved an instructor rating of 4.0 or higher for all courses taught during that time period;

Must be in good standing and maintain an active designation;

Must have showcased innovative practices to promote NAHB designations within the industry, home builder associations, consumers and other related companies and associations;

Must have been involved in other programs, activities or events in which they contributed as an instructor and represented the designation.
Nominations for this award may be made by any HBA with a joint-venture license, students, holders of the relevant designation(s) and other instructors. Self-nominations are accepted for this award.
The 2011 Educator of the Year Award winners will be selected by the respective Board of Governors based on a review of the answers to the questions and the support documentation submitted. Awards will be given in the following categories: Builder/Remodeler (CGA, CGB, GMB, CGR, GMR), Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), Green (CGP and Master CGP) and IRM/Sales & Marketing (CMP, CSP, Master CSP, MIRM).
To be eligible, all applications must be received by Nov. 4, 2011. Awards will be presented during the Designation Achievement Reception on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the 2012 International Builders' Show in Orlando.
