NAHB urges the Department of Agriculture to retain its exclusion of the Tongass National Forest from the Roadless Rule, to amend the proposed Roadless Rule to include appropriate and workable timeframes under which decisions will be made, and to require that any and all roadless area management plans and actions do the following:
Comply with all applicable federal forest management statues.
Consider local forest conditions.
Incorporate the needs and desires of local communities, economies, states and other affected stakeholders.
Absent these reforms, NAHB urges Congress to adopt legislation to repeal the Roadless
