  How To ...

NAHB has played an active role in helping Americans achieve the dream of homeownership, seeking to educate consumers with brochures like: A Down Payment Plan that Works (1961), Tax Savings for Home Buyers (1958), How to Understand Your Remodeling Agreement (1996), and Have You Reached 40? (1955). NAHB even spoke directly to women, many of whom had not previously been included in home buying decisions (There’s a Man in Your Future! — 1955).

In the 1960s NAHB wrote brochures like: Happiness and Home Ownership (1960) and Better Living Begins When You Own a New Home (1965). These guides articulated the American Dream and reflected the nation’s growing sentiment: happiness = homeownership.

Today NAHB’s outreach efforts are equally vigorous and effective. A major portion of the Association’s website is given over to consumer education.
