Communicating to Members
In 1947 NAHB introduced the Correlator, a monthly member journal. A small box inside contained this note:
|
WHAT'S IN A NAME?

'CORRELATOR'

NO — it's NOT in your dictionary — it's not in ours either — it's coined from the word 'Correlate' meaning to connect systematically — to establish mutual or reciprocal relationship' — plus 'OR' expressing the medium — and describes exactly the purpose of this monthly. |
|
The Correlator (renamed the Journal of Homebuilding in 1957) exemplified NAHB's commitment to communication, a tradition going back to NAHB's birth in 1942, when the Washington Letter already had a weekly print run of 1,400.
Today NAHB produces nearly 130 publications, while the website (www.nahb.org) receives eight million hits per year, maintaining the Association's vital role as "The Voice of the Housing Industry." |
