Setting the Record Straight
Speaking the truth and voicing the concerns of builders has been a key role of NAHB.
After WW-II, in 1946, when the government failed to remove controls and free up badly-needed materials, NAHB’s Executive Vice President Frank Cortright delivered the truth to Congress and the President in his Open Letter to Sergeant Brown, explaining why the returning veteran would have trouble finding a home and laying the blame squarely on Washington.
Some 50 years later NAHB was still setting the record straight in a series of publications called The Truth About…, addressing property rights, affordable housing, and similar topics. Backed by facts and analysis, highlighting the impact on both home builders and home owners, these brochures countered common misconceptions about home building.
Today the Internet gives everyone a voice (and a chance to mislead!) so NAHB continues to advocate on the builder’s behalf, continually setting the record straight.
